I think that this would be a really fun game for those of us who like the knowledgeable among us to really shine.

Beans, Leigh and Willus especially are peeved by the guys who look up stats and comment in those lengthy 'Gretzky vs. Lemieux' - type forums. I would too. Hockey is a game not a math problem.

Well, taking the idea from Beans's novel idea to have mid-season awards (ex. Nash/Alex award, Beans award, etc.), I say we have the PickUpHockey Awards that you won't find anywhere else!

Trophy ideas:

The Beans Award
Consistency along with a high level of play

The AndyHack Award
Most exciting player along with high level of play

The Antroman Award
Most passionate player along with high level of play

The Willus Award
Fiesty / gritty team player along with high level of play

Leigh Award
Most klutch player along with high level of play

Fly4aPuckGuy Award
Awarded to the player who makes others around him better along with a high level of play

Admin Award
Most dedication and effort on getting the little things right and constantly working to perfect his game, along with high level of play

If you guys have ideas that we should add to this list, by all means. I may need a little guidance to be as succesful as the mid-season awards run by Beans, but I really like this idea. I think it gives a chance to the really hockey-savvy members among us to represent what true hockey means to them! Give me your ideas.

Are you serious? I mean, no question he deserves all of them. But I am sort of trying to give some other NHLers a bit of spotlight with these awards. Hey, you know hockey better than I. If you think it's Ovechkin I'm sure you have good reason behind all of them.

I was just wondering if you are serious or is this another of your 'I bet all my points this game doesn't last' (I am referring to the 'Put your rep. where your mouth is' forum for those who do not understand the inside joke)

No, I am being serious. Realistically, I don't think there is a thing that Ovechkin has not done this season. He even made a glove save in one game I watched putting quite the stinger on his hand.

The only areas I might reconsider would be the one in making players better. He didn't do that as well as maybe some other guys, but he definately still make the players around him better.

Seriously, Ovechkin is the Man this year. Hands down.
