Wait, are we talking about Crosby or Abe Lincoln? come on! "patience, respect....." give me a break. He's a good hockey player. There are much better leaders. There are tons of players I respect more than him. Patience? good grief! and I'm completely agreeing with fat elvis. the guest better be a chic otherwise that is just weird!

This has been discussed so much, I'm pretty much sick of it. But here's my 2 cents. Whether Crosby is (os isn't) the best player in the game, I would much rather watch Ovechkin any day! He is much more exciting!

Do all of you commenting on Crosby diving and whining hate Gretzky too? He was worse.
It seems to me that Crosby does neither of those things very much at all anymore. It appears the reputation will stick for awhile though...

if you're talking about whinners and divers many of the greats are up on that list super mario did it for a while too as willus just said wayne was bad,, erick lindros,, the list goes on,

Truth has been spoken. If someone is still calling hima whiner and a diver, they have not watched hockey in a year or so. Either that or they are simply trolling. |

| Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Malkin, Thornton, Gaborik, Iginla, Staal, Lecavalier... What do these players have in common??? THEY ARE ALL BETTER THAN CROSBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sick and tired of hearing about Crosby all the time. Haven't you people figured out that the only reason people say he's the best in the game is because of all the media attention and hype that he gets? Sure he's a good player, you can't deny that, but he is by no means the best. It's just because he is a good looking, young Canadian guy that he gets makes all this noise. I bet that if he looked like Brind'amour and was from Belarus, people would shrug him off. Come on people, get some sense already. Enough is enough. |

It's nice to see a regime of Sid haters out there.....To those who seem to think Wayne was orst diver, the title clearly goes to Sid's not-so-secret lover, mario Lemeuix. And Mario was a big guy.
While I bitch out Sid for his diving occassionally, nothing compares to his whining, which he no doubt learned from Mario...I don't think I have EVER seen a player chase the ref around as much as him. And now with that stupid 'C', he is pathetic with that.
And he will NEVER be "the best" in the league.....HE CAN'T SCORE!!
You want a Canadian player who can do it all, an actual hockey player who warrents respect, does EVERYTHING right (leads,scores, has INTEGRITY, and can actually drop 'em too), then look up to Jerome Iginla.

| We seen 87 get dumped and checked so often during the Detroit seeries ,it is a shame thet the refs turn a blind eye to these infractions against one of the best pkayers ,there is no excuse for it . |

What I have real trouble understanding is the level of animosity towards Crosby, He is definately a league superstar....along with a fair number of other superstars...
The biggest knock he has had to deal with, is the hype generated about him since he was a young teenager. I doubt very much it was his parents out there doing any campaigning for it. I doubt very much it was his coaches or any teammates doing it, what a distraction. The media has always been looking for 'the next one', always a Canadian kid, and when one even comes remotely close, they foam at the mouths like a pack of dogs with a bell ringing somewhere.
Given that, I think he has done very well, this is a young man who has been given extra on-ice attention since probably pee wee hockey. He could have easily gone the route of an Alexandre Daigle, who probably could have been a very good NHLer if the media, and biased fans didn't ruin it for him..
The naysayers call it whining, but I think it's more a situation of self-preservation. In the Philly series alone, he was mauled every time a Philly player got a chance and very few penalties were called about it..
Watch him play...if you can put your bias aside long enough that is...he PLAYS HARD ALWAYS. And he does it with load more pressure than any other player in the league right now. Ovechkin has a bad year? So what he's Russian, what took so long.(Not my opinion, one mirrored here frequently). Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Thornton, even Iggy, who has had an off year or two...all would be given very little flack for an off year. Crosby? IHC would probably have a parade . I for one couldn't imagine playing under that kind of scrutiny game after game, year after year, with many more to come.
Taking all that into consideration, I think he is as good as the haters can't admit to.. |

Of course Detroit is going to go after Crosby. duh! He had the skill level to turn the game around for the Pens so of course they are gonna try and knock him off his game! It's just common sense! And it happens to all of the star forwards. You notice it more on Crosby because he doesn't protect himself like Ovie and Iginla and such do. Ovie isn't afraid of dishing out a big hit while Crosby shies away from it. And the turning point in game 6? I think it was Brad Stuart's HUGE hit on Crosby! Perfectly legal but a HUGE hit! It completely took the momentum away from Penguins. So ya, of course your precious 87 is going to get hit! It's hockey. Deal with it!

Dude, are you joking? He got his ankle injury from exaggerating the effects of a trip, and coasting into the boards; when the average pee-wee player could have gotten up, and started backchecking by the time he hit the board.

| He dove alot more in the early of his career(He still is in his early part of his career but you know what I mean) ...but the whining is really the reason he does take the beating every game and gets NO call for it. He doesn't usually wine for that anymore though only stupid things more so nowa days. Crosby is unreal though, you can't take that from him, nor can you hate HIM because of how the league and media blows him up. It's not his fault about this, but if you were in his position would you complain? Honestly anyone that says they would we mide as well merit you Saint status, either that or a horrible liar. |
