Hockey Keeper Pool
2008-2009

Draft Rules
~ Draft will begin on Sept 27th, 2008. Exact time will be figured at a later time.
~ Each person has a 20 person roster.
~ Each person MUST pick 12 Forwards, 6 Defensemen and 2 Goalies.
~ At the end of the first years draft, we MUST also pick 7 players to keep as unsigned players, Make sure it's each position. (Forward, Defense, Goalie) they can be anybody as long as they were drafted by a team in the previous NHL's entry draft and are eligible to play in the NHL.
~ The following drafts years will only be to fill in roster spots from losing players to free agency and to build your farm team consisting of 9 rounds.
~ After the very first years draft, once completed, you MUST sign your players to contracts.
~ In the very first years entry draft, draft choices will be chosen at random every second round, but during each 2 rounds, it will be a 1-15 to 15-1 basis, and then randomized again after each second round. Once the 20th round is completed, 7 extra rounds will be done for unsigned players.
~ The following draft years, it will be done according to the standings, with last place receiving first pick overall and so on…
~ If you would like to move up in the draft, You can offer Farm Team players or other Draft Picks in order to do so, Only after the first years draft.
~ Players must be signed within atleast 48 hours of each draft.
~ Below is a table of allowable contracts:
Positionally/////////////////Contractually
(Position / Type Of Contract) (Position / Type Of Contract)
(3 Forwards--4 Yr Contract) {3 Forwards--4 Yr Contract}
(3 Forwards--3 Yr Contract) {2 Defensemen--4 Yr Contract}
(3 Forwards--2 Yr Contract) {1 Goalie--4 Yr Contract}
(3 Forwards--1 Yr Contract) {3 Forwards--3 Yr Contract}
(2 Defensemen--4 Yr Contract) {2 Defensemen--3 Yr Contract}
(2 Defensemen--3 Yr Contract) {3 Forwards--2 Yr Contract}
(2 Defensemen--1 Yr Contract) {1 Goalie--2 Yr Contract}
(1 Goalie--4 Yr Contract) {3 Forwards--1 Yr Contract}
(1 Goalie--2 Yr Contract) {2 Defensemen--1 Yr Contract}

Pool Rules
~ $110.00/ Year. $10.00/ Team goes to League Administrator.
~ Maximum 15 Players.
~ Expansion will have to be decided on a vote with majority rules.
~ Prizes will have to be decided on majority votes.
~ You will have to pay at every draft pool, exceptions can be made and layaways can be worked out.
~ You cannot drop out and if you do, no refunds will be available and your team will be kicked out or sold to another person.
~ This pool is made for people who are serious about hockey pools.
~ This pool is only good for the regular season.
~ The team with the most points by the end of the year is the winner.
~ I will mark everything down by hand/computer to keep track of all UFA's, type of contracts signed and transactions made throughout the years.
~ If anyone has a problem involving a trade, they MUST file a complaint via E-mail/Telephone/Text Message to me within 24 Hours after a trade is finalized starting at midnight the day of the transaction. I will then ask every team in the pool who is not involved in the trade if they believe the trade is fair or not fair. We will then go by majority votes to either allow or veto the trade.
~ We will be using www.pickuphockey.com to keep track of all the points. All transactions & moves will be posted on the website's message board.
~ I need everyone's E-mail & Phone number in order to always get a hold of them.
~ Ties will be broken by GOALS FOR only for draft positioning purposes.

Free Agency
~ Once a players contract is about to run out, they will then become Free Agents and available in the next years draft.
~ You are able to re-sign any one of your players you lose to free agency but only if your lucky enough to pick him in the draft during his free agent status. (EX: Lets say you have Alex Ovechkin, he is at the end of his 4 year contract but your team finished in last place that year, which means you have first pick overall in the upcoming draft, now you can choose to resign him if you please, but If you feel you will not be able to resign him due to draft placement, you can trade him before the trade deadline and get something big in return.)

Trades
~ A MAXIMUM of 3 trades per year is allowed per team.
~ The MAXIMUM trade offer allowed for players is 3 for 1 and 3 for 2 trades excluding draft picks.
~ Draft picks can also be included in trades.
~ If you include a draft pick in a transaction, the player receiving that draft pick will take your spot in the upcoming draft in whichever position you finished in the standings.
~ Straight draft choices ONLY! No future considerations.
~ Off-Season trades are limited to 2 transactions per team up until the day before the draft.

~ When players are traded, they are traded along with there respective points.
~ The players YOU receive in a trade are assigned to your traded player(s) contracts. If you receive 2 players in an uneven trade, you must send one of those players down to the farm team & assign the other player to your traded player's contract to ensure you have only 20 active roster players.
~ It is up to YOU to make sure the trade is worth it so do your homework about it. A transaction will be finalized as soon as a verbal agreement is reached between both participants and the League Commissioner.
~ All transactions are done at a first come-first serve basis.

Injured Reserve
~ The injured reserve list are all the players who have been injured in the NHL for a lenghty period of time.
~ if you have a player on your roster who's on the injured reserve list, it's up to you if you want to drop him and bring up one of your farm players, unless you want to wait his injury out, but once you drop your player you cannot re-claim him and he will be placed in next years draft, or you can decide to trade him if he still has value.
~ You can do this as much as you'd like until the deadline, but your player HAS to be put on the Injured Reserve and not listed as Day-to-Day for
you to drop him. Injury status goes according to NHL…<http://freefantasy.nhl.com/hockey/reports/pp_injury.asp>

Roster Rules & Farm Teams
~ You MUST always have a complete roster of 12 Forwards, 6 Defensemen and 2 Goalies during the year with the exception of injuries, If you decide to drop that injured player(s), you MUST activate a farm player(s) and he will replace your dropped player(s), contract included, you will also receive whatever points that player had during the year, If he had any.
~ You CANNOT drop a player for no particular reason.
~ Your benched players can be held onto for as long as you want to help you rebuild but once brought up must be signed to a certain contract. So if you managed to pick up a very good prospect and you have a long-term player who will be hitting free agency you can have your prospect take his long-term contract but only once your long term player's contract is done, which is by season's end. The reason you should draft from every position for your farm team is in case you lose a defensemen & end up having noone to replace him. Your active roster will be one defensemen short.
~ Benched players are protected until signed.

Deadlines
~ The Trade Deadline will be on Sunday Feb 8th, 2009 @ 7:00 P.M.
~ The Injured Reserve Deadline will be on Sunday March 1st, 2009 @ 7:00 P.M. Which means ANY injured player you have, remains on your active roster.

Simulated Scenarios ( Injured Reserve)

Scenario #1

A) Dropping An Injured Player

~ Renato Has Mike Richards But Mike Richards Has Suffered A Serious Season Ending Injury Early Into The Regular Season

~ Seeing As How Mike Richards Has a 3 Year Contract, You Have To Weigh Your Options

~ Option A:Drop Mike Richards From Your Roster, Put Him On Waivers, Lose Him And Let Him Be Picked Up In The Next Years Draft By Someone Else, And Sign One Of Your Farm Players To His Contract (Ex. Stamkos) You Lose Richards Points But You Gain A Healthy Stamkos 's Points

~ Option B:Keep Mike Richards On Your Active Roster And Hope For A Quick Recovery And Healthy Upcoming Seasons, You Keep The Points he Accumulated And You Have Him For The Next 2 Years

~ Option C:Offer Mike Richards As Trade Bait, Maybe To Someone Who Knows They Will Not Be Having A Good Season And Would Like To Keep Him On There Farm Team Until He Recovers And Receive Something In Return Especially If You Need The Points To Gain On Another Team.

Option A

~ Before

Renato's Team

Forwards///////Contract

Gaborik////4 Years
Briere///////4 Years
Kovalev////4 Years
M. Richards////3 Years
A. Kostitsyn//////3 Years
Drury////////3 Years
Parise///////2 Years
Ovechkin//////2 Years
Malkin////////2 Years
Stastny/////1 Year
Sakic/////////1 Year
Staal//////////1 Year

Defense//////////Contract

Markov////////4 Years
Bouwmeester///////4 Years
Burns///////////3 Years
Green///////////3 Years
Streit/////////////1 Year
Pronger/////////1 Year

Goalies///////////Contract

Price//////////////4 Years
Turco/////////////2 Years

Renato's Farm Team
Stamkos
Tanguay
Franzen
Leclaire
Boyle
Holmstrom
Zubov

-----------------------------------

~ After

Renato's Team

Forwards////////////Contract

Gaborik///////////4 Years
Briere///////////////4 Years
Kovalev////////////4 Years
Stamkos/////////////3 Years
A. Kostitsyn////////3 Years
Drury////////////////3 Years
Parise//////////////2 Years
Ovechkin//////////2 Years
Malkin//////////////2 Years
Stastny////////////1 Year
Sakic//////////////1 Year
Staal//////////////1 Year

Defense////////////Contract

Markov//////////4 Years
Bouwmeester////////////4 Years
Burns/////////////////3 Years
Green////////////3 Years
Streit///////////////1 Year
Pronger////////////1 Year

Goalies/////////////Contract

Price////////////////4 Years
Turco////////////////2 Years

Renato's Farm Team
Stamkos
Tanguay
Franzen
Leclaire
Boyle
Holmstrom
Zubov

Mike Richards Hits The Free Agent Market And Is Available In Next Years Draft

~ Best Case Scenario Especially if You Need To Catch Up To Someone Is To Look For A Willing Participant Looking To Bolster There Farm Team And Willing To Give You Some Assets In Return In Order For You To Gain Extra Points

~ Ex. You Offer An Injured Mike Richards, A Farm Team Prospect(Franzen) And A First Round Draft Pick For Lecavalier.

~ Short term, He Could Be Giving Away A Great Player In Lecavalier But Would Be Gaining 2 Excellent Players And Great Prospect.

~ Long Term, You Would Be Giving Away Key Components To Your Organization But Can Possibly Be That Much Closer To Winning That Season's Pool
