Poll Question:
If and when Brian Burke makes a decision on his furture as a G.M., would he be a good fit for the Buds?

I have a bad feeling the Leafs will get Burke. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing to me, I don't see any improvement over Fletcher or even JFJ. He is an average GM who inherited a cup-contending team in Anaheim. The Leafs need a visionary.
Fletch has made good moves so far. Trading for future Calder-winner Grabovski, drafting Shenn, signing Hagman. I like his vision of the team; a team built with speed and youth. Now add a high draft pick (Tavares) and a high-profile free agent and all of a sudden this team looks like a legit threat for years to come. |

Burke would be another gaff for the Buds. We should stay put. He is very highly over rated |

I agree with the posters here - Burke is highly overrated, in my mind, and wouldn't do any better than Fletcher is now, IMO.
I mostly like where the team is headed now, despite having no love for Fletcher . . .

I am so glad that Burke was not released from his contract last summer. The Leafs would have signed him for sure and we would be stuck with him already. As time goes on I think it has become fairly clear that Brian isn't the GM he was cracked up to be. I think Cliff has done a great job (aside from trading for Hollweg) and like another poster stated, we need a visionary. Not someone to humour the media. Which brings us to the next question. Who is the right man to be the next GM of the maple leafs? Im not sure if anyone knows the answer to that.... |

i'm sick of tired about hearing about the leafs at least half the polls on this site are about them. a good poll would be about how much the leafs suck |

First, stop coming to the site then, You can't control what people want to talk about. Second, a poll about the leafs sucking would still be a poll about the Leafs. Third, why don't you start a poll about something else then? Just a suggestion. Leaf fans do enjoy a healthy debate on all subjects NHL and hockey related, the Leafs just happen to be at the forefront of it all. I happen to live in Toronto, so why wouldn't my home team be the primary subject of discussion? |

The Ducks are expected to announce Brian Burke is no longer with the club.
Does this mean that the Leafs should get ready to play under his rule?
I hope for the sake of this rebuilding team, that seems to be playing some exiciting hockey, Burke is banished from the Leafs G.M. picture.
IMO he is over rated and he would likely trade away our young talent and future draft picks for long in the tooth, over paid veterans. We already have Blake and we have seen how he has burned up the score sheet.
Burke inherrited two good clubs and has ran each of them into the ground by getting rid of the youth, for soon to be or need to be retired players.
Burke stay away!!!!!!! |

Burke is a great fit in Toronto's GM. I think he'll end up talking the team Toronto has got and make it go places...
But, he should just buy off Mark Bell's contract there is no sense having a guy making $2,166,667 to play in the Miners |
