Poll Question:
Over the years, Ottawa has proven to be the better team in the regular season, and had better skill, hands down. When it comes down to the Playoffs, the Sens never wanted to face the Leafs, because in the Playoffs, The Leafs were by far the better team. When it comes to the playoffs the Senators just cant beat the Mighty Leafers.

Although the Leafs haven't made the Playoffs in the last three years, missing out by only one to two points each year, the Senators have. The Sens actually shocked everyone by making it to the Stanley Cup finals in 2007 against the Anaheim Ducks. A lot of people think that the Senators wouldn't have made it that far if the Leafs made the Playoffs, but who really knows.

Something happened to the Sens this year, as they somehow forgot how to play hockey. The team work is gone, they seem to have a selfish "me me" attitude, and their goalies are the only thing they have besides Alfredsson, Heatley, and Spezza.

Ottawa has a better Goals Against Average and Save percentage than the Leafs, but the Leafs are a rebuilding team who are not expected to do much this year. However, they are actually playing great hockey considering what they have, minus the fact that they have Toskala of course.

Half way though the 2008-09 season the Leafs have the better record over the Ottawa Senators.

My question nevertheless is, will the Leafs be able to hold on and end the season with more points or will the Senators pick it up in the second half?

Choices:

Toronto Maple Leafs
Ottawa Senators

I am sorry but all I can say is WHAT? Hanley6 you have a serious flaw in your statement. A surprise that the Sens made the finals, I don't think so. It was very much expected by all, including the hockey experts. As far as the Leafs and Sens this year - Well I am shocked as heck with the Sens, while the Leafs are over achieving and it is starting to show. Toss a coin as to who will finish better.

I think the Leaves will be able to hold on. They have a lot of young talent, most of which are still trying to gain a secure spot on the Leafs hockey team. This will result in no slow in the effort at which the Leafs are playing and will keep them above the Sens. The Sens have the talent they just have to realize that because they have talent doesn't mean they don't have to try and get down and dirty in the games. Maybe not making the playoffs this year will be the slap in the face they need to get them back into playing some serious hockey. I think they will stay at the bottom this year but will do really well next year. All in all I think both teams will miss the playoffs this year... Oh well. What I would like to see is if the talent of the Sens and the hard work of the Leafs combined to make a super team. LOL. They would be a tough team to play against.

I am not going to argue bud..how often are experts right?? not often.. I was trying to be fair to the Sens. It was a big surprise, as the playoffs was about to start I didn't expect Ottawa to get that far. Buffalo Sabres were by far the best team in the League that year let alone the East I was expecting it to come down to Buffalo and either New Jersey or Pittsburgh for the East and Detroit or Anaheim for the West. I never expected Ottawa to beat Pittsburgh in the 1st round and when they did I thought they'd lose to New Jersey for sure but they didn't. I was shocked when they beat Buffalo, in fact most people were including a lot of Sens fans (I do have a lot of Sens fans for friends, and they were all surprised they beat Buffalo) it was unexpected. But I am glad Anaheim won. Anaheim had more Canadians on there team

OK I see where you are coming from. Buffalo had won the presidents cup that year and had played pretty good. Ottawa beating them i guess can be a "surprise" but Ottawa had been a legit contender since before the lockout and it was not a real surprise for them to make the final.
