So Datsyuk and Lidstrom have pulled out of the all-star game due to injuries, and have been replaced by Marleau and Stephane Robidas.
Marleau's comeback year speaks for itself.
And now in comes Robidas. Is he the west's answer to Mike Komisarek? What could possibly be the reason to pick Robidas over the likes of Rafalski, Pronger, Phaneuf, Visnovsky, Blake, Keith, Zidlicky, Jovo, and a few others... Some of these possibly for the +/- but when name recognition and star power come into question, the decision makers tend to pick the "name" ... see Modano for one example. Which makes the Robidas pick even more perplexing.
I'll give him his due that he is a +9 on a crappy Dallas team, and plays 24+ minutes per night but I can't see him being picked over many of the names above...
What do you all think?

I cant beleive Rafalski and Phaneuf arent in the game. Thats freakin bogus.
There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E". |

Wow... Komisarek makes it to the all-star game and the people on this site explode in a fury (both in defense of and against him), Then a guy like Robidas replace Lidstrom and nobody cares.... interesting. |

I agree with the original poster.
Nothing on Robidas, but there's lots of superior D-men in the league right, Phanuef not the least of them. It was a startling choice. It made me think maybe Dallas didn't have anyone sent or something, but they have Modano. Perplexing, but.... mheh. Will be fun to watch regardless!
I'll miss Datsyk the most. He's one of my favorites. |

Robidas is one of the best player at Dallas this year and Dallas need someone to represent the team in the All-Star game. Apparently, Ribiero and Richards are not doing enough to be select before Marleau.
There's nothing more to understand! |

7431 - As I originally stated Marleau replacing Datsyuk is perfectly understandable and satisfactory.
And as to your other point about each team having a representative... well now Detroit has no one going, so your argument doesn't make sense (and as the next post stated Modano is already in - which is a whole other debate).
I think there's a lot more to "understand here". Robidas in my mind would be at least 10th - 20th down the list of candidates to ask, not 3rd or 4th (if say the league's 1st few choices declined) |

Robidas was well liked in Montreal and the whole game's nonsense anyways. Does anyone care about who's there anymore?
