Poll Question:
Same hypothetical situation, it's your team's turn to draft, both of your choices are the same age, 18ish, and you're in need of a goaltender. Who do you draft, and why?

Choices:

Martin Brodeur
Patrick Roy

hands down Roy best big game goalie there is not that brodeur is a slouch in anyway but even though roy is my favorite goalie and and in my opinion the best of all time.... i would choose marty before why ,,,, because he is more of a team oriented player and he has proven he can win as much a St patrick and obviosly he is the easier goalie to manage and though i don t believe he is quite as good as Roy but i feel overall he is the better addition to a team if you can inderstand that logic...

I take Roy. Ultimately, Brodeur will end his career as the most decorated of goalies to this point, but I still take Roy.

Here's there reason. There are two of them. One is 93. The other is 86. In both cases, Roy took a team that was above average at best, and gave them the Stanley Cup. Not only these two years, Roy was always a more than adaquate regular season goalie, but he was so amazing in the playoffs, it was sick. Maybe not statistically, but he was a goalie that could not only steal a play off game, he could steal the entire series if needed.

It's not a fluke that he only missed the playoffs twice in a 18 year career. Plus, 4 Cup rings and 3 Conn Smythe's?? That's better than you think it is.

i agree 100% wit this but iw ould still go with marty, With Roy you would ahve to be carefull although i don t believe the circumstances for his departure from mtl were entirly his fault much of the blame was on him ,,, with tmarty you get as close as you can get to the same world class goaltending and at the same time a franchise player to build around,, not to mention one who took a salary discount to stay in new jersy.....
