No real concrete source yet but there are rumors all over that a deal involving Edmonton, Vancouver and Buffalo could happen soon. Possibly sending Briere to Vancouver, Morrisson and Kesler out. M.A. Bergeron is rumored to be moved out of Edmonton also.
Stay tuned

Bad Rumor.
What is the point intrading Morrison and Kesler to get an overpaid Briere? I think sombody just made this one up. |

Briere overpaid? You've got to be kidding. He's a 1st line centre, loeading the hottest team in the league and lead the team in the playoffs last year. What else do you want? Give your head a shake! As long as Edmonton doesn't take Morrison. We definitely do need a puck carrying defenceman, however. |

Oh come on, Briere is not worth $5 million under the new salary cap system. $5 million today is a solid, consistent 80-90 point player who can lead his team to the Cup, or a shut-down defenceman who logs 25 minutes a game with good offensive skills. Briere is not yet a superstar to make this salary and has not been consistent (largely due to injury). This is his 11th season and so far he's only played 65+ games 3 times (last year he only played 48). So basically if he makes $5 million for playing 3/4 of the season, we're basically saying for a full season he's worth close to $7 million...? He's not that caliber of player, maybe in the future but not now.
Sure he's an impact player when he plays, but until he can play 75-80 games, he's definitely not worth $5 million.

Already this is the most false rumour of all time because if your a hockey fan you would know that Ryan Kesler is not allowed to be traded untill the offseason!!!!!!
In February 1972, an ominous event in the form of the World Hockey Association General Player Draft took place. The Winnipeg Jets selected Hull and a few months later shocked the hockey world by signing him to the first $1 million contract in hockey history. |
