A much tougher question than it first appears.
Esposito tends to take a lot of flak for choking in the playoffs thanks in part to his major gaffe in the 71 Cup final. Letting in a 90 foot slapshot from Lemaire in the 7th game. Chicago was up 2-0 at that point. After that weak goal the Canadiens came back and won the game 3-2 and obviously the Stanley Cup.
It always seems a little unfair to me to that he gets saddled with the playoff choker tag from that. I mean he did help get the Hawks to the finals in the first place.
Esposito was a fantastic goalie.

This will go against the grain I know, but this is how I would rank them I think. On their play at their best...

2 Tony Esposito
3 Ken Dryden

Parent is one of the Greatest of all time
Tony O was a very good goalie on a bad under achieveing team
Ken Dryden was an average goalie at best on great teams in the 70's , he was a sieve in the 72 series with Russians

tony esposito had 15 shutouts in his rookie season. dryden had a fantastic team in front of him and the famous shots of him standing with his hands on his stick perhaps indicates the quality of the team in front of him. but he was amazing against boston in his rookie year. honestly, it is too close to call.

Sorry, but you can't have the numbers that Dryden has as an average goalie. A .750 Stanley cup winning percentage is off the charts, and if you think he had nothing to do with that, that's just ridiculous.

I wasn't born in the 70's so I can't really judge. But I think I would put Dryden 3rd because of the team he was playing with. He was good and knew how to win, but I don't think he had too many quality shots on him game in and game out.

And for first I don't know between Parent and Tony.
