9) Daniel Sedin (22G, 60A, 82pts) - VAN
10) Joe Thornton (25G, 61A, 86pts) - SJ

Before passing judgment, look at where each player's respective team would be without them. I guess you could also say this would be the rankings for Hart Trophy candidates.

For 2008-09... Regular Season

1) Ovechkin
2) Parise
3) Malkin
4) Datsyuk
5) Savard
6) Crosby
7) Richards (PHI)
8) Getzlaf
9) Iginla (the -2 is hurting)
10) Thornton

Honorable Mentions: Carter (Phi), Backstrom (Wsh), Sedins, not sure if they can stand on their own, that's why they don't make the list, Havlat (I don't know if chi would have made the playoffs without him), Staal (car), Cammalleri, Elias (comeback year), Nash.

Came pretty close to dropping Iginla and Thornton off the list for Carter and Backstrom... But their leadership qualities keep them in the top ten for now.

And to 8808, Crosby may end up being the better player, but not this year, Malkin one upped him in every category.
