Poll Question:
Quite simple - put your money where your mouth is. Who wins the game tonight between Pittsburgh and Detroit, and what is the score?

Correct prediction of both the outcome AND the score will receive an invisible Stanley Cup (which will be visible to those that frequent this site, of course).

"Take off, eh?" - Bob and Doug

Choices:

Detroit
Pittsburgh

Detroit 4-3

There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E".

Detroit wins tonight. 4-2. Empty net goal late in the 3rd. Hossa has a huge game (because he has been invisable in the finals so far) but Malkin get a goal and an assist, and shiny Conn Smythe Trophy. Crosby will been seen crying and then breaking the Prince of Wales Trophy over's Flury's head, vowing to never touch another trophy unless it's Lord Stanley's Mug(but he's get another nice cheque from Gatorade for doing a cheesy comercial coming out of a picture saying he never wants to lose the Cup again the 2nd time). The over rated yet stellar playing Osgood will get another Ring and nearly solidify a spot in the Hall. Ken Hollond continues to look like a God among GM's, and Babcock solidifies himself as the best coach of his generation. All the Sports casters will say I told you so when none of them picked Detroit during the season or at the start of the playoffs. Lidstrom will get more people on his greatest defensemen ever bandwagon. Hossa will laugh outloud all summer while drinking his Slovakian beer from Hockey's Holy Grail for making the right call on what team to play for and counting all his multi-year, multi-million dollar offers as UFA.

Then, all the action on PUH will die until the draft. Then die again until July 1st. Then die again until preseason.

Just call my Nostradamus.

4-3 Detroit in the 2nd OT and pretty much everything Beans said. That is my prediction but I do hope the Pens can squeeze one out.

I think Beans has just made the best prediction anyone has made during the playoffs. The only thing he missed was what happens with Phoenix?

Ok, as for what happens to Phoenix. Judge Baum orders the decision to be hashed out in a MMA match between Bettman and Balsillie. Balsillie trains with the best out there and comes to the fight in the best shape of his life and angry as hell. Bettman takes off his ring side robe to display himself in a lime green, Borat-like, one-sie banana hammock. The sight creates confusion and laughter and during said confusion, Bettman kicks Balsillie in the face and KO's him.

Phoneix then gets sold to a group of travelling gypsies for $12 (that's right, twelve bucks) who decide to move the team to Hamilton. Bettman thinks it's a great idea and is really happy with anything other than a Balsillie ownership. Fans are happy, NHL is happy. The whole world is happy.

Balsillie is going to get the team and move it out of the horrible Revenue Pheonix and bring it to Canada where it belongs... It was a mistake taking a team from Winnipeg to Phoenix. Phoenix hasn't made any money

THE GAME ENDED . . . PITTSBURGH 2 - DETROIT 1

Nobody predicted a 2-1 score for Pittsburgh, ironically, as the most popular prediction was 4-2 Detroit. Ok, so we start by throwing out everyone who predicted Detroit. Now we are stuck with whoever predicted the winner (Pittsburgh) and came the closest to the actual score . . . so, predictions of 2-0, 3-1, would be the next closest predictions.

Guest 8021 - guessed 2-0
Yours truly, slozo - guessed 3-1

For the tie break, I have to go with the score that had the winning team's number of goals correct first, so the winner is:

GUEST 8021 - GAME 6 MASTER PROGNOSTICATOR
(that means you are the best at predicting )
Your invisible Stanley Cup, which I assure you only the pickuphockey crowd here can see (with our hockey-fu), will be sent in the mail once you answer the skill testing question, which I am obliged by law to add to the prize to make it legit:

[(3x^2-27)divided by 4)] times[ 8x^2) divided by(9-3x)]divided by [(x^2+3x) divided by 6]

Well Kingwoody - if you really were Guest 8021, then you really do win the Invisible Stanley Cup.

Unfortunately, due to provincial regulations (the Invisible Stanley Cup resides in Ontario), we are unable to give you your prize, as the answer to the skill testing question is -12x.

There's always game 7 . . .

Well Kingwoody, if you really were guest 8021, then for real, your answer is still incorrect.

Better luck next time!
