Poll Question:
Ok, the 09' Finals have been one of the best in recent history. However, we have come to Game 7, one teams dreams will be crushed, and one team will have the summer of their lives!
Only question is, which team will win?

Penguins are taking it 4-2, Malkin has a 3 Point night (1G, 2A) and gets the Conn Smythe!

I totally agree...Malkin will have the game of his life. The Pens do not want to loose this one!!!quote: Originally posted by Rambo2305

While I hope Pittsburg wins, I predict Detroit 4-1.
There is something about playing at the Joe Lewis Arena that brings out the worst in the Pens. And yet... it is game 7 and anything can happen!

Yea, the "Joe" is a different place to play, thats a fact, gotta deal with the hostile crowd, flying octopus' and the Wings! lol...
Come Friday, look for Fluery to stand on his head, Osgood will be solid, but the Pens will "Fluery" him with shots lol and as mentioned, Malkin will show that HE IS the best player, and leader on the young Pens team!

Seriously? Did you watch games 1 and 2? I mean besides the score. The Penguins could have easily taken either of those games. The worst in the Pens? They outshot the Wings in each of those games and dominated much of the playing time. Game 5 is clearly the anomaly of the series at JLA. Game 5 was the worst of the Pens, but you can bet they won't start taking stupid penalties in a game 7 if they are down just 2 goals. I'm hoping for an OT, with Malkin lighting the lamp to end the season.
If I was driving distance to Detroit, I would happily fork over the $600+ tickets are going for to see this game. |

The Pens will win because they want it more then the wings. The wings have had there time and glory with 11 stanley cups in the teams history and have won 4 97,98,02 and 08 most of the players now have played in those years. Now as for the pens they havent won a cup since 92 when they won back to back in 91,and 92 so who will play beter. Well with both goalies trying to prove them selves to Yzerman that they can be No.1 for 2010 its going to have to be the team who helps them out. If the pens can play Defence like they did last night they have game seven in the bag but lets not forget about the boards in the Joe. So if Malkin can prove he is the best pens and the pens can get scoreing from the 4th and 3rd line like they did last night they win the cup. Plus Datsyuk is playing with a broken foot and most of the red wings are old and tired. If the wings want to win then it rides on there young stars like Helm and Hudler. But I say the Pens win 2-1 in the 1st ot. |

My heart says "Go Pens Go" but my head says the Wings win 3-2 in the 1st OT.

Yes. Yes. They may have outshot the Red Wings but were guilty of sloppy play. |

On another note, karma's a b'tch, so look for Hossa to be held pointless again, and cry as Evgeni hoists the cup!

I really can't see Detroit losing this game. Too much experience, too much skill, Datsyuk will be back and ready for this third game. Look for Franzen and Hossa to have strong games as they have been relatively quiet and are good pressure players. Detroit wins by 1 or 2 goals but it will be close the whole game. Crosby will play great and have chances as he also is a clutch player, Malkin will fall off the radar and be a non-factor. Lets hope the refs actually learn how to call a game, this whole series has had very poor officiating... |

I only seen the replays, so my view might have been slanted, but it looked like horrible officiating in favour of the Penguins last night. |

I like both teams but you cant cut the wings short, they dont make mistakes, they are robots and I am guessing they will shut down Crosby and Malkin. I see big games out of Datsyuk, Hossa, Osgood, and the defense, coincidence all players named are good defensively look for the Wings to only let the Pens get one or two goals and play some good shutdown D!

detroit is old. I think that line is a little old. 5 cups in twelve years. That never gets old. The classiest sports franchise. Period. |

I'm not sure where or how the Wings got their "clean" reputation but they are as dirty as any other team in the playoffs. In fact I'd say they've been the dirtier team in this final series. They definitely were dirtier in the Anaheim series.

I have very little to say:
1 - Pitt has not won a game away in the series. They have been outscored 11-2 in 3 games. Fleury has been average(at best) and there has not been a single + player on the Pitt side.
2 - This is the kind of game where experience means as much as anything else
3 - I can't count how many times people have bet against Detroit and lost.
Detroit wins. I say it's over by the start of the 3rd period. |

My heart says Pitts my head says Det....I guess we'll give the deciding vote to the same thing that ends up making all my choices...Alexander Keith...before puck drop I'll ask Mr. Keith what he thinks and parlay the info to everyone so they can place the appropriate bets. |

I don't know who will win, but I hope for Pittsburgh. I'm neither a Pittsburgh nor a Detroit fan. Here are some things that interest me about the finals though:
You hear a lot about how Osgood just knows how to win. He has 3 W and 3 L so far in the finals so he must know how to lose, too.
Marian Hossa signed with Detroit because he felt that was where he had the best chance of winning the Cup. If Pittsburgh wins will he have his agent call the Penguins and try to make a deal?
How many top players on both teams have less goals and assists in the finals than Max Talbot?
Insurance companies have always grown rich by paying attention to the laws of probabilty. Do those laws apply to game seven tommorrow? If so, having seen six straight home wins so far, are we due for a road win? And does Detroit's stirling record at home mean they are due for a loss? Having seen Crosby score way less than his usual points per game average in the first six games are we due for a return to form?
Just random thoughts. Can't wait for the game, but then it'll be a long time until October...

If a puck drops in the middle of the Forum but no ones there to hear it because they've been golfing for a few months now, did the puck make a sound? |

One also has to remember that detroit has skated very comfortably with Pitt with literally no secondary scoring. I think combinded (don't quote me I don't have time to look it up) Holmstrom, Hudler, Samualsson, and Hossa have 5 points and only 1 goal?? Holstrom has not scored since the 1st round and Hudler and Samualsson have no goals in this series either. That's huge.
It's only one game. If any of these guys step up and give Zetterberg and Datsyuk any support, they win. If that doesn't happen, Pitt has a very good chance.
I just think that Babcock is too good a coach to let Detroit slip in game 7.
I still say Detroit and it's still over at the start of the 3rd period.
(But I am still very interested to see what Mr. Keith has to say.) |

I think Detroit,
Even tho they aren't my fav team I still hope Detroit will win the cup..at their home arena.Hopefully they will shut down Crosby,Malkin and Guerin. Hossa,Zetterberg,Lidstrom,Datsyuk,Franzen and Osgood will shut them down..hopefully |

So - all the cards are stacked against Pittsburgh tonight:
1) Home Ice - they are 11-1 this playoffs, 3-0 this series 2) Healthy - Datsyuk seems to be at least somewhat healthy, Lidstrom and Rafalski are both in, every important player looks good to go 3) Experience - no need to explain really, as Detroit knows how to win championships and crucial games, been there done that, no team is more experienced 4) Fleury hasn't played great in Detroit - he's been very good in all the Pittsburgh games I thought, but in the first two games where Pittsburgh easily had a shot at winning and he could have been the difference, he let in a couple of questionable goals 5) Osgood has been dominant - enough said, he has proved all naysayers wrong (including myself): this guy is a winner, and should be the playoff MVP if the Wings win
Then why are so many people choosing Pittsburgh? Well, it may be for all the wrong reasons, but I'll tell you why I am choosing Pittsburgh.
I feel as if Crosby is going to do something special tonight. It's just a feeling, but it is a nagging thing that won't go away. I remember before the Washington game 7, the head to head battle with Ovechkin was highlighted of course, but Crosby was the first star with 2g and an assist in that lopsided victory. No one thinks this game will be lopsided except for Red Wings fans maybe, so it's a whole different ballgame - but in his short career, Crosby has already shown me that he will BRING IT for sure this game 7.
Also that game 7, Fleury was awesome. And he'll have to be awesome tonight as well, biggest game of his life.
Fleury and Crosby steal the show. Pittsburgh 3, Detroit 1 (regulation)
