Currently, the criteria are as follows:
Top Prospect: 0-299
Rookie: 300-999
PickupHockey Pro: 1000-1999
PickupHockey Veteran: 2000-4000
PickupHockey All-Star: 4000-7999
PickupHockey Legend: 8000+
Could it possibly be changed to something like the following?
Top Prospect: 0-99
Rookie: 100-199
Sophomore: 200-399
PickupHockey Pro: 400-999
PickupHockey Veteran: 1000-1999
PickupHockey All-star: 2000-2999
PickupHockey Legend: 3000-7999
PickupHockey HOF: 8000+
Allows some users to change their "Ranking" a little bit quicker...that's it :) lol

this probably wont help any because it's me, but I agree with Rambo2305 on this one, the way it is now it would take years just to become a pickup hockey pro rank... Maybe put up a poll see what the majority thinks of it

This has been a poll in the past. The whole point is this site was to talk about hockey, not to have rankings. If I recall, Admin was considering removing the ranking system all together.
Take a look at this forum and the responses and it should answer most of the questions as to why the rankings are what they are. If you don't agree, I would suggest contacting Admin directly.

How bout changing them to a medevil system.
Rambo becomes a knight for always championing his causes.
Hanley becomes a Jester or Wipping boy for always being disagreed with and told to shut up more times than I could count.
Bean's becomes a Merlin for moderating and coming to a discussion with strong Ideals.

Yeah, it would be nicer but I think thats too difficult for the moderators to change it to that and change the satrs for the rank but I would hope for it to be like that Rambo.

| To be very clear we only have SIX possible categories (the forum software only allows for 6, not more. So your wish for 8 categories is impossible Rambo. |

The criteria has been changed as of now. Here is the new configuration:
Top Prospect: 0-99
Rookie: 100-249
PickupHockey Pro: 250-999
PickupHockey Veteran: 1000-2499
PickupHockey All-Star: 2500-4999
PickupHockey Legend: 5000+

This ranking is really good but I'd say it should be like this:
Top Prospect: 0-99
Rookie: 100-399
Pickuphockey Pro: 400-999
Pickuphockey Veteran: 1000-1999
Pickuphockey All-Star: 2000-3999
Pickuphockey Legend: 4000+
I'm not saying you have to do this but it would be nice.

It stays what it is now. Every year people ask for it to be changed, if it were lowered people would ask for it to be raised, when it's raised people ask for it to be lowered. This is right in the middle.
For those new-comers to the site they can see their ranking go up reasonably quicky. And for those who have been at the site a long time and don't care about rankings as much it takes longer and a sense of pride is felt when these more challenging rankings are achieved.
Please remember - quality over quantity - make your posts meaningful and valuable so that your credibility and the credibility of your hockey community remain strong. |
