You gotta go with the leafs top 4,good hard slapshots from the blueline.Canucks got powerful defencemen to like Bieska and Salo is what i think are the Canucks top dmen. But I got to go with the Leafs with Komisarek,Kaberle,Kubina, and Beauchemin.

This is tough, because for the Leafs especially, we have a few guesses we have to make . . .
Is Komisarek going to fit in playing with Kaberle or Beachemin? Will Schenn avoid a second year slump and reach his potential? Will White or Exelby be one of the top four d-men in Toronto if someone gets injured, falters, or gets traded? Does Salo get injured, and how do the Canucks D respond to the loss of Ohlund with new pairings?
This is almost a toss up for me, so of course I will choose the Leafs, banking on Schenn to have a stellar second season. But like I said, for the Leafs right now this is all on paper, we'll have to wait to see these guys in action . . . it's a lot of new faces on defence, and traditionally that's a position where it takes some time to get settled in and learn a new system under a new coach.

Well slozo I think you chose correctly, leafs dmen are a bit stronger than the canucks dmen because they are a bit bigger and maybe harder slaps at the blue line.Anyways this is what I think of the dmen.

I voted even. If you could guarantee an injury free year for Salo, i'd give a slight edge to the Canucks. Look at their record and their defensive stats when he's in the line-up. Sorry, you'll have to look these up as i've only ever heard guys on the sports talk shows mention them, but apparently the Canucks are a much better team with him in the lineup. This is not just his booming shot from the point (which is likely harder than any of the Leafs D's), but his very much underrateed defensive play. Also, i'm factoring in Schenn's inexperience, although, i think this kid will be a stud in a few years. As for Komisarek, i loved watching him play (and hit) in Montreal. However, defensively, he's prone to some mistakes. I'd take Mitchell's all around defensive game over Komisarek's hits any day. |

why do I get the feeling that Komisarek is going to turn out to be the next Bryan McCabe in toronto.... popular at first, but once he starts to make some mistakes in his own zone, the fans will turn on him and start ripping the contract Burke gave him. He'll go like 25 games without a goal, than make a bad giveaway thats costs the leafs a game, the Toronto Papers will have giant headlines like " 'Sareks giveaway costs leafs" and the message boards will be flooded with komisarek hate mail. I hope that isnt the case..
