I want Gustavasson to be the leafs starter over toskala, beacuase toskala was terrible last year, but I guess well have to see if Gustavasson can adapt to playing in the NHL. |

This hype sounds similar to kerfuffle about Fabian Brunnstrom last year. He scored a hat trick in his first game I think, but then faded away.
I hope Gustavsson is up to the hype, but hopefully Toskala will play well this and they don't let Gustavsson hang out to dry like the did to Pogge last year. Toskala had surgery over the summer, so hopefully whatever nagging injuries will be taken care of for this season.
I'm not a Leafs fan, but I certainly enjoy reading about Burkie rebuilding this team instead of JFJ flailing about... |

As good as Gustavsson may or may not be, I am so glad that Burke has started the rebuild with a very solid defence . . . hopefully they play up to expectations. They might take some time to get to know one another, but at the very least we should see far less situations where the Toronto goalie starts to look like a highway with all the rubber heading his way.
Odds are, Toskala is still the starter at the All-star break. Best case scenario is that Gustavsson comes in like the second coming of Patrick Roy, but even if that unlikely event happens - Toskala still has to lose the job. With a better defence in front of him, and knowing that Toskala is at the very least a decent goalie and proven starter who has a clean bill of health now, he'd really have to falter for Gustavsson to take over.
Toskala is the starter for the whole year unless he gets injured.

I think Gustavsson will put a lot of pressure on Toskala for the starting role. But Toskala will play better then last year. By the All star break it will probably still be Toskala but...
I could very well see this going half and half after the All Star Break.
This is if no injuries are involved. |

Toskala will still be the man in TO. The Monster may be the best player outside of the NHL last year but the same was said about Brunstrom and he didn't do squat last year. |

The position is Toskala's to lose. We'll only see a lot of Gustavsson if Toskala goes on a cold stretch, and then Gustavsson plays well and steals the time like Clemmenson (from Weekes), Anderson, etc. |

i keep hearing comparisions between Gustavsson and Lundqvist. If this guys turns out to be anything close to lundqvist the leafs are set in goal for a long time. we shall see
There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E". |
