The Flames are on their first winning streak of the season. Last night they beat Dallas 3-1. With that win they have finally won 2 games in a row.
I bet they are a couple games over 500 by the end of Dec. This is the beginning of their rise to the top of the Div.

Well kudos for being optimistic, but I won't believe it until I see it. |

I expect this type of talk from you yahoos.
Vancouver is going on a slide due to their weak D. Edmonton is beginning to stumble too. Kipper is back to his usual form and Iginla has been a force. Amonte finally has some confidence. I predict Flames will pass both by the end of the month and be chasing down the Avs for second.
By the 15th of December the division will look like this:
Min Col Cgy Edm Van
start the clock...

I agree they are coming on stronger and key guys are contributing. Pretty sure that their major troubles are behind them now. And from what I can see on the news vancouver is messed up.

Tonight is the big test for your Flames. The Ducks are actually "streaking" with a 16 game undefeated roll (in regulation). They crushed Vancouver 6-0 last night. If the Flames can win tonight then I'd say your predictions might mean something. Otherwise, garbage.

Hogwash. Calgary is finally wher they belong. At the bottom. They will be there or in 4th above vancouver in Dec. Watch the Ducks slap 'em around tonight & see how good they really are. |

The Ducks beat the Oliers on the 25th of Oct 6-2 so the Boils didn't fair much better than Vancouver yesterday.
Tonight Flames 5 Ducks 3
Result = Flames > Oilers+Canucks

Just on the local nets. Sportsnet West in Calgary & KDOC in Cali. (according to nhl.com) Can't get too many Flames games in Vancouver. Pisses me off. |

Wow. I stand corrected in the whole being slapped around thing. Of all the good teams the Ducks have played, they had to lose to Calgary. Oh well Edmonton won so Calgary still has some catching up to do. |

I noticed Amonte got 2 points last night too. That is 5 points in his last 4 games. Good to see some production out of this guy finally. I hope he can keep it up. |

Interesting stat. In the last 10 games, Calgary is the only team in the Northwest with a winning record.
Last 10 games Minnesota 5-5-0 Edmonton 3-6-1 Vancouver 4-6-0 Colorado 5-5-0 Calgary 5-4-1
Only 1 point separates 2nd and last place. And note that the second place team, Edmonton, has dropped 7 of their last 8. |

How do Flames and Canucks fans always find these stats? I think they're making them up lol

Now now Novie, there you go flying off the handle again and saying inappropriate things. Later, let's go complain about the Senators in their section of the forums, for now though let's talk about the BIG # 5!
Tonight against St. Louis the Flames will get their 5th win in a row! Putting them over 500. Which is about a 4 weeks earlier than my predictions. Damn I hate being wrong!
Go Flames! |

3-0 over the St. Louis Blues. 5 wins in a row. Vancouver lost and so did Minnesota. With that win the Flames move ahead of Vancouver to 3rd in the div with a game in hand.
And as a bonus Mikka the Keepa just got me 7 points in my pool for the win and the shutout. Very nice. |

Well ok, it is 5 wins but the only ones that are credible in my books are the ones against Dallas and Anaheim. The other 3 games were against Vancouver and St. Louis... Even the Flames should have no problem beating them. They scored 3 goals in each of those 5 wins and that definitely won't get them very far for very long. |

Why do you even bother posting on the topic of the Flames Babs? When it's good, you're not impressed, and when it's bad you're less impressed. The Flames could have a record like Anaheim and you'd still say they don't deserve it. Why don't you just say it? You don't like them, and leave it at that. Instead you try to reason it out and sound all statistical, you just end up sounding silly.
C'mon say it...c'mon, you'll feel better....Ok I'll start....
SHARKS SUCK!

Hey Babs,
kidding aside. The Flames and Canucks play on CBC on Sat Dec 23. We should have a fun side bet. The loser has to switch their favourite team to the other's and preach the gospel of that team in these forums for for 1 week starting Christmas eve. Honour system though, you gotta sound sincere.
What do ya say? You even have home ice advantage... |

I know you meant the SHARKS and Flames and to call the Sharks the Canucks is beyond insulting...hehe
Disgracefulness aside, YOU'RE ON!!! I'll be glued in front of the TV for that game but you'll be in bed with a box of kleenex cause the Sharks are going to slap the Flames silly. Although if we do this, and you realize from your pro-San Jose ranting that they really are a better team, there's only room on the bandwagon until playoff time starts. |

My bad, but really Vancouver or San Jose it doesn't matter, their going down!
Trust me, if by some freak of nature they lose the the Sharks that night I'll be off your band wagon in 7 quick days, so no worries about me hanging around until playoffs!
As for the rules The loser must:
- make a reasonable and honest effort to be in the forums.
- create at least one thread that promotes the winners team in a VERY positive light.
- create at least 1 thread that bashes the loser's team
- agree with the winner when speaking of either the Winner's team and/or the Loser's team.
for the duration of the 7 days
Good? |

Oh and one more rule.
the loser can't say anything positive about their own team in that time, unless it is in agreement with the winner.
I'm done |
