Ah, good point, I wasn't specific enough! I should have said 3 NHL HEAD coaches.... So you are correct, and that case there are more than 3! Let's stick to head coaches. |

Sorry, got a bit messed up there... yes, he IS the head coach... but he is not in the HHOF. But since I screwed up, here's a hint. The third coach played in Montreal... but not with Carbonneau, he retired 2 seasons before Carbonneau's rockie year. |

Do you mean active coaches? Isn't Larry Robinson in the hall of fame? |

Okay, here's a two parter.
There are 5 different scenarios in which a goal can be scored. For example, one would be "even strength". Only 1 player in NHL history has scored in all 5 scenarios in one game.
Name all 5 scenarios.
Name the player. |

Easy - Lemieux: Even strength, Shorthanded, powerplay, empty net, penalty shot.

Which NHL Club was the first to produce four 100 point scorers in one season? |

He scored in each different way in ONE game? Wow... just to imagine it is crazy.
My guess for pucker's question is Edmonton, but I'm doubting it cause it seems like too much of an obvious answer. |

Close babs, the Oilers were the second team to do it. In fact, I am pretty sure they accomplished it in 3 separate years in the 80's. There is one team that did it before them.

Boston is correct - good job. 1970-71 season saw Esposito, Orr, Bucyk, and Hodge each score over 100 points. The Oilers accomplished the feat when Gretzky, Messier, Anderson, and Kurri all had over 100 points during the 1982-83 season. |

Wow. It was just a guess, but I've heard Don Cherry say a few times that they were the first team to have 5 20 goal scoreres, so I thought it a good guess. You could have given me 6 months and I never would have guessed those names.
Here's a good oneI've always liked.
Name the only player who has played for 3 NHL teams, but only ever played in 1 state. |

Davidson wear the "00" a couple of years during the 70's, but he wasn't the latest.
Yep, for the "00", it was a goalie, but it wasn't Weekes.
For the "0", it was a defenseman.... played for Hartford... |

The Biron Rule! Marty Biron wore 00 until the NHL decided that players could only wear #'s between 1-98. Rumor was Satan wanted to us "666" but when the league caught wind of it, in came the rule!
I don't know who wore 0. I am thinking it was a goalie, but can't remember who. |

How about Neil Sheehy???
(PS, I totally googled it and it still wasn't easy to find. Without the Whalers hint, it would have been nearly impossible) |

Good for Martin Biron ("00") and for Neil Sheehy who played for the Hartford Whalers in 1987-88 season wearing the "0". |

Can I try a new trivia question?
Right now, still playing in the NHL, there are 18 players (or goalies) drafted 1st overall in the entry drafts of the lasts years.
Without googling, how many can you name here? |

Good question. Let's get the last two out of the way, the easiest ones, 1 Crosby and 2 Ovechkin. I'll keep adding them as I think of them (I certainly won't be able to remember half of the years in which these players were drafted though):
3 J. Thornton 4 I. Kovalchuk 5 E. Lindros 6 P. Stefan 7 O. Nolan 8 Marc-Andre Fleury (man, can't believe that one took me so long) ? 9 ? Does Alexandre Daigle count? 10 Mats Sundin
This is all I've got... without Google anyways. |

Nash, Daigle, Turgeon, Modano and Sundin. That's all I can come up with on my own. Between Babs and mine that is 13.

4 more good answers. Bouwmeester wasn't a 1st pick, but a 3rd pick overall in 2002.
Damn, I was sure it will keep you all occupied for a day or two...
Missing two defencemens, both drafted by eastern conference teams.... and now both playing in Canada... |

Chris Phillips. I was also thinking of Regehr but he was drafted by Colorado and was only first round. Hmm, one more...
Is it Wade Redden? |
