Just use the little orange "help" links on the hockey pool set up pages to find out more about any feature. In the pool details page where you specify the trade deadline, if you click on its help button, you will find this explanation...
"The Pool Deadline - It is there for information purposes only. Select yes or no and insert the date for the deadline. The trades selector indicates to the pool teams within your pool that there is a trade deadline. The information is posted on the View Pool Page for all your pool teams to see.
As it stands now, when a player is traded, his points go away with him. The team would then acquire all the points of the new guy from the beginning of the season.
We are developing the software to manage either scenario, 1) keep the points to date and start acquiring the replacement players points from the trade date or 2) as stated above. This will definitely be available for next season and maybe before the new year, but for now, once he's traded his points are gone with him."

That'd be awesome if the player trades could happen and that the team would keep the existing points, and start to accumilate points for that player for the remainder of the season. Hopefully this'll happen soon as I have yet to find a pool that does this so I'm going to manage everything myself.
I'm in a pool with some people and this is there first pool, so to give them a chance, I am allowing 3 trade deadlines so that at least it'll be competitive. Hopefully the new system will let this stuff happen......

So now that we might have the keep ponts option (split trade), any chance that we can retro-actively go back to the beginning of the season, and enter in dates when the player was traded? I still have all the dates that I did perform the trades so I could manually enter them in, and hope that the database is smart enough to pull the correct point total.
Thanks for that option though. I'm sure that it will be awesome when it comes out.

hey guys.
good chat. the system will handle multiple trades, up to 10 per season. I believe you will be able to do them retroactively but I'll have to check with the programmers to be sure.
here is a bit more info on the trades. It's from an email I sent out last week...
1) Trades will be optional. By default trades are turned off in the pool set up. You then can choose two trade options if you want to activate them a) split trades or b) traditional trades.
Split Trades - Split points will share the points of the traded and acquired players (split at the trade date of course) Multiple splits are available too. So you could start with Player A and trade him for Player B then trade B for Player C and so on. Up to 10 splits can occur. The system will track all the trade dates and the points accordingly. You will be able to view the points from each player as well throughour the entire pool. Trade dates are posted on the view pool page. The Administrator must handle all the trades.
Traditional Trades - This is the simple option. It is the way the system does it right now. You simply trade a player away and his points get traded with him. You then acquire all the points of the new player from the start of your pool. Trade dates are posted on the view pool page.
Default (Trades off) - By default the trades are turned off. The administrator must turn them on to conduct official trades. Of course as the administrator you can swap players at will if you wish but the points are swapped out completely between the traded players if you do this. |

That's awesome! Hopefully we can do it retro-actively! I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks for the hard work,
