Good on the oilers for signing Staios for another 4 years. As a player that came into the league as a forward and switched to defense i think he has become a very good d man. It is great to have a d man that can jump up and play an offense position. I think its a great move. What does every one else think?
I didn't really like him when he was here in Vancouver but when he became a divisional rival, I started to regret losing him. He was great during the run last year and it was a good move by Lowe. I still think he needs to shore up the D with a number one or two guy.

I agree he was overpaid by Lowe. Especially considering they have a Staois type player in Jason Smith. Smith will now command at least $3 million.
Just did some research and the Canucks lost him via the expansion draft to Atlanta. That is where he switched to forward and was named the teams captain.
I agree that the money is too much, both Pisani and Staios. They wanted to lock him in for the next three years. The sick thing is that when the Oilers have another strong season and go deep into the playoffs again, if Staios was a free agent after that, he would command in the $3+ mill/year. The Oilers took a risk and paid a bit more than market price to avoid a bidding war in the off-season. Same thing they did with Pisani. I sure hope the Staios deals works better. Pisani is not worth the money he is making today.
I agree that he's overpaid, but I like him. He's my best friend's next door neighbor. I see him like 3 times a week. He's a really nice guy, so, go ahead and overpay him
