Habs all the way. Quietly becoming the sleeper team of the year to some who don't follow them. I knew from the start that the additons of Samsonov and Johnson would give this team a new identity. |

New York Rangers? Ottawa Senators?
How come San Jose is not even on the list? They're third in the league in points and when you think about all the raving going on about how good Buffalo is... San Jose is only two points behind them... Dallas also deserves to be up there.
Side note: It used to be a forum rule, but please try to spell the team and player names correctly. If you are unsure how they are spelled, use Google or NHL.com |

You know, I want to tease you, as everyone on here knew what you were going to say. (You're loyalty is commendable - I sure wish I could say "Vancouver" with a straight face!) But it's all in fun, and it's kinda tough to argue with you.
As I have said before, too close to call. But I think that the winner of the Anaheim vs. San Jose Western Conference Final will win the Cup.
So I selected Anaheim, just to cancel you out. All in fun man! |

Lol, I knew I'd get a reaction like that. It's OK though, everyone is still new to the idea of San Jose being an elite team. In a couple years it will be as instinctive as teams like Detroit and New Jersey.
Even if it's not San Jose, I'm happy to see that the "Other" option is getting so many votes. |

It's tough to say the top team in the west will win the cup even if they are so dominant during the regular season. In the past three years, the eastern conference has had a team who seeded #1 or #2 and the west #6, 7 and 8 to meet them in the final; every year the east has become victorious. Now I'm going to predict a similar matching for the finals; however, this will be the year that the underdog will be victorious. Now to predict who will win, I'll side with bablaboushka and lean to my loyalties and say Calgary Flames will win this year. I might get objections to say that they do not have nearly as stacked a team or such, but during the playoffs anything can happen. |

You better watch what you say. I know what you meant but you put the words "side with bablaboushka" + "and say Calgary Flames will win" in the same sentence. It'd be like making a sandwich but instead of bread, you use crap: It doesn't matter what you put between it, it will still taste gross. |

Seriously now, the oilers have stacks of talent, but injuries have plagued that young energetic team.

Anaheim will win the Presidents Trophy, but like every presidents cup winner they will not win the Stanley Cup, I think Buffalo's time has come. |

I think you have to look at the teams that are consistant. Those teams that are streaky usually don't fair well in the playoffs. It's really hard to tell. When you look at the standings, there are literally 5 games between 4th and 20th in the league. I would say the front runners are Buffalo and Anaheim. Both are playing great (consistant) hockey and have the talent to continue. San Jose and Dallas are right there. Then there are the 'tweener teams like Nashville, Calgary, Atlanta, New Jersey, and Edmonton that could make a run to the top really quick. Who's hot going into the playoffs, who has a good seeding, and who has the hottest goalie. Take a look at the Vegas odds today. Just another reason why Americans (most anyways) don't know hockey. They have Edmonton at a 30/1 to win the Cup and Pittsburg at 22/1. Wow!!!
My Bet, Edmonton! (Great Value on your money in Vegas too!)

There is still plenty of time left in the season, and as soon as another team is in first, people will be changing there mind. |

Guest 4532 seems like an interesting person.I'd like to meet him .........If only I knew which institution he was in ............
AS much as I'd like to say ANAHEIM( Look at that defence and the speedy "In your face pursuit of puck " forwards ) , my spidy senses tell me SHARKS over the SABRES after they've shaken off those pesky PREDS. |
