Ripley, don't be so sure - PHX, SJ, ANA are all within 15 points of VAN gunning for the top of the Pacific division, if VAN were to go on a serious downturn anything is possible. If they play .500 for the rest of the season, then I think you're right, a top-2 finish is ours.

ah, well than you haven't heard that Bieksa has been injured, 2-3 weeks with a broken foot... good news though, Hamhuis is supposed to be back Saturday or Monday, and Ballard is healing faster than expected.

Crazy bad luck they're having, just keeping my fingers crossed that we get hearthy prior to the playoffs!

the only silver lining of all these injuries is that we're getting a good look at all the Canuck defensive prospects that are filling the holes right now.

I've been plenty impressed with Chris Tanev, I think he must have jumped into the top position in terms of defensive prospects, and would be surprised if he doesn't make the team next year. He'll never score a bunch of points, but great poise in his own end, smart and mature for his age, and can skate.

Yann Sauve was very good tonight, he can hit and skate, good shutdown-type of guy.

Oberg played, but I didn't see too much of him. Likely more in the coming games...

All in all, I'm pretty comfortable with what we have on the farm for defensemen.
