This one makes no sense to me. What the hell do the Sabres need a 2nd round pick for? They are on the verge of making a cup run (if they get healthy) What if Miller gets hurt? Is Conklin going to step in and take over?

Unless they move the 2nd round pick for a player that can help now.

But why not make this trade in the off season?

This one is puzzling

Eklund is reporting that Smyth wants to get a deal done and sign an extension now. I think it is unlikely that he plays anywhere else.

5 years 22 milion is the offer. I think it will have to be stepped up a bit. $5 million per should do it.

Keeping a lot of the deals in this one thread will help to avoid duplicate threads of the same trade. The other threads you set up for the deals that have already happened are great. Big deals should get their own thread.

Yes this was definitely needed. I think it would have happened sooner but the Coyotes were waiting to get the best return for him.
