I'm not picking on the Canucks here, just pointing a couple things out...
If Vancouver wins it will be only the second time in Stanley Cup history that a team has had a negative goal differential through the playoffs and won.
Also possible that Christian Ehrhoff will break the current record for worst plus/minus rating on a Cup winner. Much like coaches, players(most often goalies) also can have their weaknesses exposed in the playoffs by other coaches. Made me laugh listening to people say he was Norris worthy this year.

What if Vancouver wins game 7 by a margin of 11 or more goals!?!
I'm kidding of course. Very interesting post Willus! I was wondering the same thing. (How many times a team has won the Cup with a negative goal differential?)
That's amazing that it's happened only once before. I can't imagine that the goal differential was anywhere near where it sits with this series.
Boston has currently outscored Vancouver 19-8 after six games, so if Vancouver goes on to win game 7 by a one goal margin, they would have a -10 goal differential!
If this were to happen, Vancouver could care less. Whether you win 1-0 or 8-1, a win still counts the same.

That's not necessarily true Willus, if the Canucks win by 7 they'd finish even. Lol, kidding, well, it's true but i see your point.

Personally i think this is unfair. FYI, Ehrhoff is and has been since last round, playing with basically one arm (his shoulder is clearly messed up in a big way). While i don't think he was "Norris worthy", he was consistently one of the top dmen in the league (just not quite the top or top 3). Most who were saying "Norris worthy" by the way, were implying he could be in the running, as in, final three. How you can "laugh" at the season he had is laughable itself. Top 7 in dmen scoring, 14th in +/- and only +2 away from top 10, 6th in goals, 24 mins/game, etc, etc. Laughable, pfffft, far from it! In my eyes, that's a pretty darn good season! |

I was also looking at Luongo's numbers on the road and he is on pace for one of the 5 worst road goaltending performances in history. Also, looking at Thomas and he has the 3rd highest save % in Cup finals history and has done that facing 60+ more shot than the next closest guy guy on that list.
Another things about these finals is that when either team wins, one can argue that cheaters win. Boston for their after the whistle antics and Vancouver for their 2012 England Olympic diving team try outs |

Not picking on the Bruins,
But if they win, it'll likely be with one of the worst power plays of all time for a cup winner. Right now they stand at 11.5%, and that's with a massive improvement already against the Canucks in their blowout wins.
Hey, be real Willus - it is picking on the Vancouver Canucks. Although I admit, the goal differential thing is a mite interesting . . . usually it shows up a real underdog team that had some blowout losses along the way, and it is odd how Vancouver has done it so far as the favourite the whole way through.

I don't think he was picking on the Canucks Slozo. I think he was just stating a stat that he found interesting.
You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take Wayne Gretzky |

I was being a bit 'tongue in cheek', actually. There are indeed a lot of weird facts in this playoffs with the two teams in the finals, and a lot of it has been because of the strange scores in Boston versus the shutouts and low scores in Vancouver.
Like for instance, Luongo has 4 shutouts this playoffs, more than anyone else, including Thomas who has 3. Luongo has a very nice .916 save %, something you'd expect from a top goalie one win away from the cup. And yet, even if Luongo gets the shutout tonight and finishes with an impressive 5 shutouts, because of those games in Boston, he won't be at all considered (IMHO) for the Conn Smyth, and even if Thomas loses, it's probaby his trophy.
And, because of thoe Boston Blowouts, I cannot ever remember seeing such a goal disparity for one team in the finals, tied at 3-3 with one game to go.
No, I don't think Willus was really picking on Vancouver, just busting his chops.

another interesting side stat... the average price for Canucks tickets via broker has broken the all-time highest price for tickets to a Vancouver-based sporting event, currently at just over $5,000 each - beating out the 4,300 average price for the gold medal game last year.
So far the highest asking price I've heard was $9,000 each for a pair of tickets. No idea if they sold. |

Take note Boston fans, the Red Sox won their first World Series in a very long time during a lunar eclipse. Maybe its a sign. Go Boston |
