Emery, is in trouble with the Police again, meaning more negative press for the Sens... But Paddock "like's his play of late" (lucky for him that seems to coincide with the return of Heatley and Alfy).
Is Gerber getting a fair shake with this team? Will he get another chance with Paddock playing his goalies until they lose now that the scoring machine has been put back together?
You've got to feel for Gerber...

The guest is right. All these forums about ''poor ol' Emery having to prove himself time and time again...'''
Cry about it Ray. It's the nature of the beast, you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. Don't make a fool out of yourself time and time again in the public eye. I'm sorry but it aggrivates me that a professional athlete has the audacity to make a constant spectacle of himself. Enough with the melodramatics, enough with the soap operas, enough with the attention seeking, enough with it all.
Meanwhile Gerber, through pure hard work, has managed to keep the Sens atop the Eastern conference, and still has to hear every day the words of Paddock echoing in his ears. What is the only reason Ray gets the time of day? His age.
Personally, I am sick and tired of him.

Gerber pure hard work has kept the sens on top??? any goalie in the nhl could keep the sens on top,,,,, Gerber is not a starting goalie in the nhl he simply isn;t that good the only time in his career he has put up good numbers is when hes been on the best teams in the east.....carolina and this year with ottawa im not saying emery's behavior is excuseable....... im just saying gerbs hasn't been mistreated infact for he the salary he is getting he is getting much better treatment then he deserves!

Gerber was a starting goalie in the NHL until a younger Cam Ward got really hot and took his place, Gerber should be the starter for the Senators, Paddock should say good bye to Emery he is disrupting the team |

These guys play in the most heated position in hockey. For a goalie, it's not what have you done for me, it's what have you done for me lately. How about the start of the year when Jersey was in the tank?? People were saying that Brodeur was washed up. Now, does anyone say that?? Today, Vancouver has taken a major slid and everyone blames Luongo. In 2 weeks, if Vancouver picks it up a notch, it will be over. Everyony blamed Kipper for Calgary's slow start and this time last year every said that Nabokov was overpaid and should be traded.
It comes with the position. Gerber doesn get treated any better or worse than any other goalie in the league. |

Ok, Gerber is being treated like any tandem goaltender in a "win or you're out next game" situation. You're right that's the nature of the position. And I never said the he was a star goalie by any means, but neither is Emery. Let's rewind...
Until Sat's game he was 1-6 in his previous 7 starts, 5 of those games he had over a 4.00 GAA and a SV% under 0.88 (that's raycroft like stats), the 1 win was 5-4 against Florida (this earned him the spot for Sat's game). This is on top of his attitude and antics.
Gerber's last 8 starts he went 4-4, in those games he only had 3 games with a 4.00 or worse GAA. So not great either but hasn't his play and his attitude meritted another shot when the team got it's stars back.
I'm not a Ottawa or Gerber fan by any means but I just think, at the minimum, he's unlucky that the Florida game didn't go the other way, and then he wouldn've had Alfy and Heatley in front of him next game and ended up with the sparkling performance everyone's saying Emery had. |

I agree with the guest, it is a very controversial position and everything is a matter of opinion. In this one, just a slight management issue in terms of Gerber's ice time, in my opinion. Marginal, but the guy deserves more than the short end of the stick they are throwing at him.
Just answer this, do you think his age as compared to Ray's has an impact? In my mind it is the entire reason Ray is even entertained in the Nation's Capital, his youth and Gerber's lack thereof.

The original poster was right! Gerber's getting screwed... why is Emery playing tonight when he lost the last game. The only answer is they're shopping him, at least I hope so. |
