Seeing as how we spoke about Penner and his contract and so called lack of heart, I am curious if anybody thinks the Oilers will throw him into the waiver wire. He’s what a 5.25 mil a year player who has under achieved in Edmonton thus far and if Mac T is the coach their next year I don’t think he wants him on his team. I’m not 100% certain but I think Mac T said "I can’t watch another 3 years of this". So if Mac T is their do you think they throw Penner into Waivers or do they hope he turns out to be the guy they thought they were signing. If they throw him to waivers and another team picks him up they split his salary, not a bad price to pay for Penner at 2.625 Mil a year if you another GM looking for a power play guy that has proven he can score. Any thoughts?

As an Oiler's fan I would have to say by, by to Mac T.
A team that is so inconsistent (could be because they are young) but the reason is irrelevant, the coach MUST step in and direct his team to consistant play. As much as I like Mac T he has not directed the team to play at a consistent NHL level.

Well the question has been answered... The Mac T era is over.

What's over is the Mac T era as "coach"... he'll still be lingering around the front office somewhere, i'm pretty sure... So - i don't think they've really solved most of the problems although it's a start.
It's the right thing to do. Too long with only sporadic moderate success. The team has great potential but we've been saying that every year for 5 years. Some new blood would do the organization good.
