What does inbred have to do with the green jerseys?

I hope you're not referring to Saskatchewan, which if I heard correctly, is why they wore greens for some of the pre-tournament games.

If you are referring to Saskatchewan, well, by all means let me know, I'd love to ... chat ... about it.

(ADMIN EDIT - CONTENT REMOVED) Pre-tournament would have been fine but now they are wearing them today vs the Swiss, In actual game that matters, (sort of)

Is this serious?? What's the big deal?? The pride that Saskatchewan has for junior hockey is unsurpassed in all of Canada! A tribute to that is awesome!! We are talking about a preliminary round game. It's not like the gold medal will be drapped across a green jersey!!

I bet this is the same person complaining about the Inuit tribute on the inside of the Maple Leaf.

For anyone who doesn't know, Canada is 10 provinces, 3 territories, and a whole lot of different people in and between. It's more than TO, Vancouver, and a Red Shirt!

(no disrespect intended to those true Canadians in Toronto and Vancouver)

Ugh...

Is there a way to filter out the immature and ignorant in this forum?

Seriously this is the worst Guest post I've seen since I joined.

The green jersey is a fitting tribute to the host Province, a province that is home to some of the greatest sports fans in the country. Your attitude is extremely shallow and unwelcome. Grow up...

The arena wall in chicago should be credited with a goal.

No disprespect to the fans in sasky? but... where the hell are they?? The frst 2 tournament games haven't even been sold out!

I don't mind the jersey's but i mean they are doing it as a nod to the fans there and they aren't even filling the rink.

It's called price. Tickets are going for a brownie a piece. Would you spend a $100 on a Canada vs Latvia game??? I wouldn't.

Canada vs Russia/Sweden/Finland etc and they are sold out.

Ya you're talking to a Leaf fan thats a cheap seat in TO. I realize its pricey but this is supposed to be our (Canada's) tournament. Tickets for the Olympics are going to be probably 4 times that much and i doubt the rink will be empty for a Belarus or Norway game.

My point is if they can fill a 34 000 seat football stadium they should be able to fill an 11000 seat arena.

Well, it is Saskatchewan . . . the numbers aren't there. The example about paying 100 bucks to see the Latvia game? In Toronto, that game would have been a sold-out, drinking and singing fest, as the Latvian population there is the biggest outside that country (I know, it's my heritage). Heck, I might have gone as well.

As to the green jerseys . . . not a bad gimmick, even if it is to sell yet another special Canadian jersey. It's a nice nod to Sasky fans, (ADMIN EDIT - CONTENT REMOVED) try putting it down by making references to poor genealogy.

Comparing the Olympics to the WJC is simply not comparable. The Olympics have been in Canada only 3 times, 2 of those being winter and the last being 20 years ago. Further to that, the NHL players have never been in the Olympics in Canada. It's not even close.

The WJC are in Canada what seems to be every 2nd year.

And again, a $100 ticket to see a blow out is not very appealing, not even to the most die hard fans.

I will be in Saskatoon next Monday and I am looking for a ticket to the Gold Medal game. However, right now they are listing the Medal day standing room only pass at $320. I would rather sit in a pub with the Crazy Saskatoon local's than drop that on a standing room ticket.

Pride for the game? The game against Latvia and the one against the Swiss are the first WJC games that were played in Canada that were not sold out in the past 20 years of tourny play.

Do you have proof of that??? Some kind of link or story??

If this is the case, maybe it's also a telling story of the economy??? Or, is the mighty Saskatchewan fans still figuring out that number between 11 and 13???

I must have read almost every post on this website and never felt any need to comment on any of the topics. Still don't. What I do want to comment on is this Beans character.
Dude, it's hockey. Mostly watched by men. Men mostly relate to each other through name calling and other childish means. Sports, as a rule, are all about who dominates who. What is the deal with your super politically correct attitude towards any and every topic that comes up?
Works like this: he calls some province inbred, you guys come back and say the women in his province are easy and it goes on like that until someone gets bored. Like I am by reading trash talking posts that turn into love your neighbor crap. C'mon fellers. Do it right. And if you're easily offended try the chatrooms on Better Homes and Gardens.

Hey buddy, why dont you hang out at the Borat chat room if you want childish humour, ok. Calling a province a bunch of imbreds is not good humour.

Don't preach to me about how guys work. I would bury you if I had the chance. However, I have this other character flaw. It's called class and discipline. This forum has rules and guidelines for the good of the group and I follow them. Feel free to read them. If you don't like the rules, I suggest finding a site that has rules you do like such as the Borat site suggested by the last guest.

http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2160
http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=609
http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=608

So you are aware, it was not me who did any editing on this thread. And it is painfully obvious that you have not read most posts on this site. If you had, you would see that I am far from the politically correct poster you say I am.

Have a nice day.

So what should Canada wear a Bison when in Manitoba, or how about when they play in Russia maybe they could wear a hammer and sickle. I take pride in our jersey it shouldn't be changed to make Saskatchewan football fans happy.

Intelligence is definetly at its peak for this post.

Normally I ignore these posts but I can't help but add my 2 cents.

Hockey Canada always does a nice job at showing its appreciation to the communities and people that host this tourney. The green jersey was show of appreciation to the Saskatchewan people, and apparently their football team. A classy move by Hockey Canada.
I am pretty sure the hard working volunteers that help this tourney be so successful in Canada appreciate your inbred comment. Actually I am sure they don't care because the type of people that put in long hours for this tourney are not classless like yourself or anybody else that thinks up the same thoughtless comments you do.

I apologize to anyone else who may have been offended by my post.

It's not like the crest is changing. A bison??? A hammer and sickle???

I do take pride in our jersey. In this case, there was a little Rider Pride added it. It has more than just football.

Did anyone complain in 2002 when the Canadians wore their Yellow Jerseys to commemorate the first Olympic Jerseys??

I just love that people say stuff like this. Yep, the Green Jersey's are too green. The Olympic jerseys are too native.

And the people that think these things are too ignorant to waste anymore time on.

sorry this post was mine.

I didn't mind the change for the preliminaries. I do have to say I had a hard time following the game from a small Edmonton pub TV screen, as the opposing team Switzerland I think, yesterday was wearing white and red. Knee jerk reaction was to boo for a green goal. Might of had a few a that point though to be honest.

Joshua....took me a minute or two as well. I actually was at a restaurant that didn't have the sound on and when Canada scored shortly after i got there i thought it was the Swiss! Once i remembered they were going to wear the green, i realized all was well.....

I think Canada's jerseys are fairly plain anyways, tbh.

I love representing the Red & White, but i don't mind a change here and there. We all still know it's Canada, and they are still representing.

I like the Swedes jerseys, just not the Swedes. :p
