Oilers finally break out of their losing streak, but does beating Toronto really count? I didn't watch the game: give me your opinion was it Edmonton that beat Toronto, or did Toronto beat itself?

Two pucks off of Leaf players and in the net...really just another game for the Leafs :D lol

Well I would like to give the Oil the credit for the game as they played more inspired hockey then have been lately. They seemed to want the win more.
But, the Leafs essentially beat themselves. More then 20 shots that missed the net! Toskala, looked like one of his off nights. Two goals off of the Leafs own players and an offside goal to finish it off.
The Leafs did not deserve to win this game, they did not play the same way they did against the defending champs. They did not establish the strong forecheck. They looked lazy except for small bursts where they looked like they wanted to play.
The Oil deserve the credit for coming to the rink to play, they got the bounces and breaks. That is what you need to break out of funk sometimes.
I was going to throw out a friendly wager for Beans on this game, glad i didn't now.

The Maple Leafs started off in control and everything was looking great for Toronto until Vesa Toskala let in ANOTHER s***ty s***ty goal. A slapper from the half wall, a terrible angle south of the faceoff dot, right over his glove. Vesa was down and out before the guy even shot the puck, and of course, the leafs wilt right after the goal and the oilers find life and cruise to the win.

Pretty boring game, both teams looked like s***, Oilers take the 2 points.

There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E".

Porkchop - two goals off Leaf players, isn't that hard to blame the goalie?

However, Matt describes a softie (not sure if that was the other one that PC called offside?) which sounds as though it should have been stopped.

FTR, i didn't see the game, nor any highlights so i'm going on what i read here.

Anyway, what's up with the Leafs goaltending situation. I haven't been paying much attention over the holidays and i'm wondering, is Gustavsson playing the bulk and this was a fill in game for Toskala or are they still sharing the crease somewhat?

Alex116,
1st goal of Whites Skate
2nd goal deflects off Kaberles stick
3rd goal, O'Sullivan clearly off side on the stretch pass.

Not an excuse, the Leafs did not derserve to win, Oil played like they wanted to win, Leafs did not.

Often a team needs to catch breaks to get out off a slump. The Oil got exactly that or it was a 1-0 game for the Leafs.

Toskala was deep in his net out of position on the second goal, had he been out at the edge of his crease, square to the shooter, the puck does not go in even if it is deflected like it was.

I agree with Matt. When Toskala lets in one of those goals, the Leafs give up and lose confidence.

sure toskla isnt great......but just another display of Torontos o % skill level. I am a leaf fan but i am willing to admit that the leafs DONT HAVE ANY SKILL WHATsoEVER....one day when M.stag, A.Pon, J.Blake, J.Mayers, etc.....are all gone and replaced by real hockey players, the leafs may stand a chance
